After nearly 20 years, A Tribe Called Quest has blessed it's fans with another album. To be completely honest, I didn't listen to much Tribe growing up. Instead, I opted for west coast and Bay Area "gangsta rap". However with age and maturing as a listener, I've been able to appreciate Tribe's We Got It From Here ... Thank You 4 Your Service album. This album is dope and it's good to see a bunch of other listeners feel the same way. In fact, this is the group's second album to debut at number 1 on the Billboard charts. That accomplishment is well deserved considering the hard work put into this project and the loss the group experienced with Phife Dawg passing away earlier this year. This wasn't just a loss for Tribe but for the Hip Hop community as a whole.
We The People is one of my favorite tracks from the album so it's good to see a visual to go with it. The track is relevant considering our current political climate. The timing of Tribe's release is also perfect because it came a few days after the election. Songs like this and groups like A Tribe Called Quest make us reminisce about the Golden Age of Hip Hop. I may have not listened to music like this much growing up but I did acknowledge and respect what it meant for our culture. Without further ado, enjoy the new video (and message) delivered by A Tribe Called Quest. Also, make sure you cop the album if you haven't done so already!
